Living Along The Way

For our last day in southern California we made a trip back to Hotel del Coronado for brunch in the Crown Room. The food and drink were fantastic . . . champagne, mimosas, shrimp, crab legs, breakfast items, soups, roast chicken, prime rib, and more. Then there were lots of decadent desserts. We ate too much and decided we needed a walk before driving back to Chula Vista. Here are a few of the pictures.

After many days of clouds and rain, we finally have sunshine in sunny southern California! This year's rainfall is now in the top 5 on record. We've stayed safe but there's been flooding, slides, and many traffic accidents. We took advantage of our first day of sunshine by visiting the USS Midway.

Darlene and Henry flew in from Mississippi and we're busy touring southern California. We had dinner at the Del, scene of Marilyn Monroe's "Some Like It Hot," watched the Super Bowl at Anaheim's ESPN Zone, got Henry on the Tower of Terror at Disneyland, enjoyed wine tasting at Callaway Vineyards in Temecula, and spent the day at the San Diego Zoo.

February finds us heading south to Chula Vista for a 2 week stay at the Chula Vista RV Resort & Marina. Unlike Newport Dunes, our view from BOB (Big Ole Bus) is limited; we can't see the marina or bay. But a short walk brings us to bay front parks and bike trails. So far the weather has been absolutely beautiful--sunny cool days and cooler nights. Exploring town, we found the Thursday afternoon Farmer's Market with fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, and more. As you'll see in the picture, I've found a great hair stylist and gotten a VERY short haircut.
